Meet Ms. Jessica Esrig, Music Teacher, Choral Director of GHS:
Ms. Esrig grew up in Paramus, NJ and studied music at The College of New Jersey. She has been singing since she was four years old. Ms. Esrig was a member of "Prem1ers" (the select advanced choral group at PHS) and concert choir. She performed lead roles in "She Loves Me" (Amalia Balash) and "The Wizard of Oz" (Dorothy Gale)musical productions and a supporting role (Miss Prism) in "The Importance of Being Earnest". Ms. Jessica Esrig is a coloratura soprano. She has studied with voice teachers privately on and off throughout her career beginning when she was in 8th grade at age 14. She studied voice privately throughout college for four years with Nora Sirbaugh at The College of New Jersey. She currently continues her private voice studies in Harlem, NY with Richard Byrne. Ms. Esrig continues to perform with local opera companies (Opera Theater of Montclair, Eastern Opera, Opera at Florham, and The Baroque Orchestra of NJ) throughout the Tri-State Area in addition to teaching music full-time at Garfield High School. Ms. Esrig encourages all who have a passion for music to continue their development as musicians and perform locally with choirs, musicals, opera, study voice and anything else their heart desires.
